If you are currently interested in archiving or reporting NMR spectra, I think you should read the following application note. Especially if you have an electronic lab notebook (ELN):

I definitely would encourage people to use this method of archiving data however do not forget about chemsketch while not a portable as pdf,it has some of it own advantages. For example any embedded spreadsheets, word documents can be readily accessed from within chemsketch making it even more data rich.
Thus spreadsheet calculation methods will remain intact (less of How the ? questions) or no reinventing the wheel as the spreadsheet is readily available for data imported or pasted via the clipboard Similarly for word document which may contain other information pictures diagrams etc.
